Airport Reviews by pilots:
“CONTROLLER WAS OVERWHELMED WITH JUST FOUR AIRCRAFT, HAD AN AIRLINER HOLDING OVERHEAD AND TWO AIRCRAFT APPROACHING THE AIRPORT......LIMITED PARKING, EXCELLENT IMMIGRATION PROCESSING AND VERY FRIENDLY ATTITUDE. THERE IS A GA AND FBO OPTION, WE USED THE GA AND IT WAS PERFECT.” – Michael Borden (March 4, 2026)
“Loreto International Airport is one of the easiest airports I have ever flown internationally. When departing you just file a flight plan, get it stamped by customs and immigration right there in the same operations building and then walk out to your plane and takeoff. When arriving there is a couple parking spots reserved for customs clearance. Customs and immigration usually come out to your plane but you may get off and walk to the operations building and wait for them if they are not there yet. Staff is very friendly, new FBO is about to open this year. Customs and Immigration available upon arrival or departure at the general aviation terminal. Highly recommended to check international comercial flight schedules and not depart or arrive at same time because all the customs and immigration officers will be working for the comercial flight and you might get stuck there for a while. No handler needed for international departures or arrivals but there is a couple guys that can help you with all the paperwork, etc. Saul is one of the guys there. Saul Hirales phone number is +52(613)113-7256. He is available via WhatsApp Messenger. His email is: saulhirales@yahoo.com AvGas and Jetfuel available. Airport operation hours are from 0700 to 1900 You may request a time extension to open earlier or close later. This will cost about 100 usd per hour. You have to request it at the airport operations office. Rental cars and or taxis can be requested at the general aviation terminal.” – Enrique Salcedo (February 13, 2026)
“The airport has a vor approach and is nestled in tightly to some mountains west southwest. The tower was very attentive and a good long runway. The fbo is newer and a good amount of support was available. Immigrations and customs was a breeze and all people were very helpful! This area looks to be a new up and coming destination as there a golf course south and renovations are happening all around town. The Misión hotel is the nicest hotel in the area with food and great pool.” – Justin Voller (February 10, 2026)
“First time to Loreto. Controllers kept us high at FL390 until we asked to get down and then a little long at FL200 and finally tower switched us to 16 so made the descent more challenging and less comfortable - so just stay on top of the controllers and be assertive. We used Manny’s for handling at the FBO but I think they outsource to local guy. I think next time I will just try one of the local handlers directly. Service was good and efficient. Always pay attention when fueling that the team understands gallons vs liters (we had to clarify it couple times). Finally, for our departure, they didn’t have a GPU at this time (maybe a temporary issue). Overall, all was good and loved the town. Definitely will be back for more.” – Avi Wazana (April 4, 2025)
“Very easy airport to fly into! Rigo at the general aviation side is the best! He makes you feel safe and comfortable the whole time!” – David Nickerson (December 17, 2024)
“Loreto Aviation Services were very good. Excellent and accommodating staff helped with all aspects of trip. Nice facility. Expect possible delays with Immigration. Small customs staff who also must work airline flights... so delays are very possible. We experienced this on departure.” – Robert Cameron (June 7, 2024)
“This was our first time into Loreto and I can’t think of enough good things to say about the experience at Loreto Aviation Services. The email communication from the beginning was exceptional as was the service when we landed. We were greeted at the airplane and they already had all of the paperwork ready to go for our multi entry permit. They walked us right in and the customs inspection was done right away. They didn’t miss a beat with the rest of the paperwork and had our flight plan ready for signing in short order. Fuel truck was at the airplane right away after we finished customs. We ordered some tacos from the their lunch menu which took about 40 mins but were pretty tasty! They had to call in the order and go and pick it up. One thing I did not know is that you are only allowed one laptop per person coming into Mexico. I happened to have two because I had the laptop we use for airplane charts, MX downloads, etc.. It took a few minutes but we were able to explain it was actually airplane equipment and not a personal laptop. I would like to say thanks to a couple of the line guys: Sergio - spoke great English and helped us with laptop Horacio - helped us loading up with all of our passengers when they showed up for departure There was also a taller gentleman with glasses and I feel bad but I didn’t get his name, he did all of our paperwork and didn’t miss a beat!! Also a special thanks to Sofía who helped immensely with emails and paperwork at FBO desk. Thank you all for a great experience!! Can’t wait to come back!!” – Jesse Plath (February 25, 2023)
“Quick service. Cleared customs here on the way to cabo and refueled. Left SMO and landed here. Easy flight, everyone was super nice. Loved our dogs. Next time I’m spending way more time here - the area was stunninf” – Bradford Malt (December 22, 2022)
“I paid Rigo $100 (tel phone/WhatsApp 55 613 104 3548 ) as a handler and he made the process quick. Total time to do all paperwork was about 5 minutes. Tower was friendly and lineman were in the ramp waiting for me after landing. I paid the following government fees: $87 for an aircraft multi entry fee $33.50 per passenger immigration fee $10 (estimated) per passenger departure fee $15 landing fee” – Garrick Louie (March 30, 2022)
“We had a great experience on arrival at MMLT. Originally, I was going to use the FBO given that I had a 3 and 5 year old in tow, but decided that the fees seemed on the high side for me. It ended up being a non issue going through the GA terminal - everyone was friendly and eager to help a 1st timer through the process. We saved about $400 per my accounting for a Baron.” – Vijay Iyer (October 21, 2021)
“This was out first trip into Loreto. The flight was easy. They didn’t have all the radar services 100% but the airport does not seem to get the traffic like a Cabo. They handed us over to Tower at 20,000 feet. They didn’t have ATIS, so we got weather from normal comms. We didn’t shoot the VOR approach so it was a quick right down wind to RW34. Probably one of the coolest approaches as you fly over the water. Customs was easy. They met us at the airplane, inspected the cabin for food. That’s about it. They don’t have a ton of room on the ramp so they started parking airplanes on the taxi way. We hired a handler, Judith Buelna from Tráfico (Email: trafico@fbolto.com Work: +52 (613) 135 2787 Cell: (624) 176 7770 ) All the paper work was completed. Pretty seamless. Looks like the FBO is pretty NEW. The custom person was just finishing their lunch so that too probably an extra 5 mins, but they gave all the passengers drinks while we waited. They unloaded all the bags for us. (Gave them $5 each.) Overall good service! Would recommend. Total process including waiting for the taxi was about 30 Mins.” – William Thompson (March 28, 2021)
